SHOOTING COMPETITION RULES

PURPOSE of the COMPETITION: to organise a historical sport shooting competition with the aim of determining the best shooters and recreating the spirit of the historical period of the Wild West (USA, second half of the 19th century). The competition is held on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the website Blackpowder.lt.

PLACE: the shooting range “Raguvos šaudykla”. 55°06'55.6"N 24°47'14.3"E

DATE & TIME: 28–29 September 2019.

REGISTRATION & INFORMATION: pre-registration on the website http://www.blackpowder.lt until 5 September 2019. In exceptional cases, registration is possible on the shooting range on the day of the competition one hour before the beginning of the competition; however, overnight accommodation in this case will be available only if there are vacant rooms.

STAGES (each stage is scored and awarded separately):

  1. Western Action Shooting only with 2 cap and ball revolvers according to the adapted IPSC rules – 6 exercises. Results will be scored by using the WinMMS programme;
  1. Cowboy Action Shooting according to the SASS approved rules – 4 exercises. Results will be scored by using the CAS Scoring programme; Categories: Cowgirl, Cowboy, Duelist.
  1. MLAIC No 15 Vetterli (13 loads, 10 best ones will be scored):
    • Firearm – any flintlock or percussion rifle;
    • Sights – according to the rules for each class;
    • Target – MLAIC C50 meters pistol target;
    • Position – standing;
    • Distance – 50 meters;
    • Bullet – round ball or any type of elongated bullet;
    • Cleaning – permitted;
    • Funnel – permitted.
  1. MLAIC No 12 Mariette (12 loads, 10 best ones will be scored):
    • Pistol – free percussion revolvers, reproductions only;
    • Sights – contemporary sights. Height of fore-sight unlimited, but profile must be of the original style;
    • Target – MLAIC C50 meter pistol target;
    • Position – standing;
    • Distance – 25 meters;
    • Bullet – round ball or picket bullet.
  1. Rifle Long Range
    • Firearm – any percussion or Lever Action or revolver rifle; reproductions only;
    • Sights – contemporary sights;
    • Target – MLAIC C200 meter rifle target;
    • Position – prone;
    • Distance – 100 meters;
    • Bullet – round ball or picket bullet.
  1. Rifle Moving Target (9 loads - 3+3+3):
    • Firearm – any percussion or Lever Action or revolver rifle; reproductions only;
    • Sights – contemporary sights;
    • Target – IPSC/IDPA; A – 5 points, C – 3 points, D – 1 point;
    • Position – standing;
    • Distance – 25 meters.
  1. Shoot Off

ENTRY FEE:

Participant entry fee (all stages and catering included) without accommodation – EUR 50;

Participant entry fee (all stages and catering included) with accommodation (one night, arrival on Saturday from 8.30 in the morning) – EUR 60;

Participant entry fee (all stages and catering included) with accommodation (two nights, arrival on Friday from 18.30) – EUR 75.

The right of priority of accommodation lies with the participants of the competition. Available accommodation facilities: three- and four-person rooms with bathrooms (number of rooms is limited); the place for a camper, tent, etc. (number of places not limited, shared bathrooms). Accommodation of accompanying persons must be arranged with the organisers until 10 September 2019.

TARGETS: paper and metal targets will be used in the competition.

WEAPONS and AMMUNITION:

All ammunition must be loaded only with lead bullets. Participants may use their own or on-loan weapons. The organisers of the competition do not provide participants with weapons and/or ammunition for the competition.

PARTICIPANTS:

All shooters who have been registered and paid the entry fee may take part in the competition.

EQUIPMENT and CLOTHES:

During the competition weapons must be carried only in a reliable holster (desirably, in a leather holster in the style of the respective historical period). Participants and spectators of the competition are invited to arrive dressed in clothes corresponding to the spirit of the Wild West (USA, 19th century). It is forbidden for participants to be dressed in military style clothes (camouflage), to wear shorts for men, etc.

AWARDS (AT LEAST 3 SHOOTERS IN THE CATEGORY):

I–III places in individual offset: a diploma and medal.

DURING THE COMPETITION it is FORBIDDEN:

  1. To use weapons and ammunition posing a risk to the life and health of shooters and people round about.
  2. To shoot or to observe the competition without eye and ear protection.
  3. It is categorically forbidden to smoke and use open fire in the shooting and loading areas.
  4. To prepare a weapon for firing (e.g. to withdraw the weapon from the holster while at the exercise area) without the judge’s command.
  5. To partially load a weapon in any place not intended for that purpose.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Shooters and judges alone are allowed to be on the firing line.
  2. Weapons are carried onto the firing line only in a holster.
  3. Participants may fully load their weapons (place a cap, load rounds, etc.) only in the place specifically set up for that purpose.
  4. Prior to the beginning of the competition, participants must get acquainted with the shooting range safety requirements and sign in the safety instruction protocol.

PARTICIPANTS MAY BE DISQUALIFIED IF THEY:

  1. Neglect the safety requirements.
  2. Are intoxicated with alcohol or other substances.
  3. Hinder in any other way the progress of the competition

THE ORGANISERS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CHANGE THE RULES AND PROCEDURE OF THE COMPETITION.
